Maika’s Notes on the New Year – 2022 List

Short and sweet 🙂

For 5 years in a row, I’ve done my monthly challenges: one different challenge each month, for an entire year. The list included everything from holding a 3 minute handstand everyday, to not spending any money, and everything in between (Find my 2021 and 2020 lists). There were all kinds of benefits to managing New Years goals this way (rather than the typical ‘resolutions’ that we’re all sick of). Overall, I would rate my success rate at a solid 80%+. Not bad… however, at the end of it, I didn’t walk away with any true feeling of accomplishment, new skill, or growth. Some months, I just did it to “do it,” which wasn’t the point at all. It’s time to switch things up.

For 2022, I’ll build a list of things I want to do, learn, and experience. It’ll be my job to complete as many as possible before the year ends. Scroll to the bottom for the list.

Instead of a long, lengthy letter to the world about my reflections on 2021 (which, I am writing – but not sure if I want to post. Message me directly if you’d like to read it), I’m sharing some highlights, lowlights, and fun things I’ve come across. Enjoy!

  • Cried on my birthday
  • Got 2 parking tickets
  • Didn’t make frisbee college nationals (and almost re-injured myself in the process)
  • Lost $20 in poker (but only to my family)

  1. Reading Angela’s Ashes right now and I thinks it’s fantastic. I recommend it to everyone! So that can be one thing you do in 2022! Congratulations on all of your accomplishments! My goals this year are to continue working out and reading daily! Although hard with a baby, I got this 😎
